Bridgewater school 'naked images' case prompts request for U.S. help

Bridgewater Police have asked for help from the United States in their investigation into images seized from students' phones at Bridgewater Junior Senior High School.

Nine male students at the school were suspended in May after questionable images of nude and partially clothed students were shared via cell phones. The school notified police and an investigation ensued.

An RCMP technological crime unit has been analyzing the electronic devices and now Bridgewater investigators want some help from U.S. police to find out more from an internet service provider involved in the case.

"Bridgewater Police Service Investigators hope to work with U.S police to further their investigation into the use of an electronic application provided by a U.S service provider," a police news release said Tuesday.

They said they "have completed and forwarded on to Ottawa a request for U.S. Law Enforcement assistance under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty."
