Tim Thomas is headed to the Islanders, the team announced on their verified Twitter account Tuesday.
Boston traded their former goaltender to New York in exchange for a conditional draft pick in 2014 or 2015.
Thomas announced last summer that he was taking a year-long break from hockey.
The 38-year-old is in the final year of his four-year, $20 million current contract, which carries a $5 million cap hit for the 2012-13 season.
More to come.
