C.B.S. beagles found, RNC not concerned for their safety

Seven dogs that are at the centre of a case of alleged animal neglect in Conception Bay South have been located, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said.

According to the RNC, the dog's owner breached the provincial Animal Health and Protection Act by keeping the beagles in enclosures that were too small.

The man, 58, was given 14 summary offence tickets for breaching the act.

When officers arrived at the property on Farmland Lane last Tuesday, the pets were no where to be found.

That prompted a public outcry, with dozens of messages left on the RNC's Facebook page urging them to locate the dogs and ensure their safety.

On Saturday, police said they located the beagles, with the help of the owner.

"The RNC is not at this time concerned for the health and safety of the beagles in question," a statement read.

Meanwhile, the owner can either contest the tickets in court or pay the fine.
