Calgary will see nearly $257 million for city infrastructure projects after the province announced the municipal sustainability initiative (MSI) funding from the 2012-2013 provincial budget.
Alberta communities will share in $896 million this year, up by $10 million over 2011.
“I’m pleased to see Calgary continuing to use MSI funding to build, improve and rejuvenate neighbourhood facilities,” said Minister of Municipal Affairs Doug Griffiths.
Among the projects funded with last year’s Calgary money are the King Edward School arts incubator, with $5 million; the Frank McCool Arena; the Optimist Athletic Park; and the Crowchild Arena.
