Weather

After a chilly night, the weather will begin to take a warmer turn in the next few days. Today we'll see sunshine and a high of –9 C. Not a lot of precipitation in the forecast for the rest of the week — we'll see sunny highs of 1 C tomorrow and 9 C on Thursday.

We're expecting a smooth commute this morning — road conditions are bare and dry throughout Calgary and southern Alberta.

News

New numbers from the Calgary Real Estate Board indicate that the city's real estate market is cooling. A drop in sales and an increase in inventory is causing uncertainty among buyers and sellers. Home sales are down 34 per cent from the same time last year.

Bad news for the Calgary Flames as the team's star defenceman Mark Giordano will miss the rest of the season with a torn bicep. Giordano has left the team and returned to Calgary to begin his recovery.

Three people are facing multiple animal abuse charges in connection to what the Calgary Humane Society called "one of the worst cases of neglect" it had ever seen. Ruby, a white bulldog-cross, was found badly injured near an Ogden strip mall this past September.
