Calgary police cleared in 2011 shooting death

A special investigation has concluded the actions of two Calgary police officers involved in the shooting death of a man with an axe were justified.

Police had been called to the northwest home last October for reports of an aggressive man.

When they arrived a 32-year-old man came out the front door carrying an large axe and advanced on one of the constables.

Both officers fired their guns and the man died at the scene.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team said it's investigation found the actions of police were lawful.
