Christine Cusanelli was the winner of "Super Saturday" in Calgary-Currie, as the school principal won the Progressive Conservative Party's nomination in that riding.
Currie won a five-candidate race for the PC nomination in Calgary-Currie over the weekend. Party members voted in 11 Alberta ridings on Saturday, as they prepare for a spring election.
"I feel like I'm prepared for the next step," said Cusanelli.
"I feel like this is something that I'm totally ready for. I'm looking forward to bringing Calgary-Currie back to the bedrock it once was."
Cusanelli said she plans to focus on health care, education and the environment.
"I'm interested in hearing some of the fresh ideas that our constituents have to say about that," she said.
MLA Dave Taylor currently holds the Calgary-Currie seat for the Alberta Party, but is set to retire.
Donna Kennedy-Glans won the PC nomination in Calgary-Varsity, Ald. Kelly Hegg won in Airdrie, and Okotoks Western Wheel associate publisher John Barlow secured the Highwood nomination.
In Banff-Cochrane, Canmore Mayor Ron Casey is the new PC candidate, former alderman Darren Hirsch won the riding of Medicine Hat, and the Little Bow riding was captured by John Kolk.
Earlier in the week, the focus wasn't on the race, but a death threat.
Candidate Dale Galbraith claimed to have received threatening messages following a nomination vote he organized in the Calgary-McColl riding.
"It was hard, hard to get through," said Galbraith. "It wasn't the best week."
