Canadian celebrity chef missing since New Year's Eve
A Canadian celebrity chef has been missing and hasn't contacted his family for a week, leading Waterloo Regional Police to seek the public's assistance in locating him.
Jonathan Gushue, the grand chef at Langdon Hall Country House Hotel and Spa in Cambridge, Ont., was last seen in downtown Toronto on Dec. 31, Waterloo Regional Police said in a statement on Monday.
"His family has had no contact with him since that date and are concerned for his well-being," police said.
The 41-year-old, is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with short dark hair and blue eyes, and 180 pounds. He is originally from St. John's, N.L., and may be going by the name of Jonathan Herder, which is his middle name.
On his rarely used Twitter account, @JonathanGushue, his last tweet was on Dec. 26.
Gushue is married with three children, according to The Waterloo Region Record newspaper.
He has worked at several restaurants in Canada and abroad, including The Berkeley Hotel in London, U.K., the Four Seasons hotel in Toronto, the Wedgewood Hotel in Vancouver and the Sunvalley Hotel in Japan, according to Langdon Hall's website.
Gushue has won accolades for his work, including the gold medal at the Gold Medal Plates culinary competition in Toronto.
