Canadian robbed in Guatemala
A Canadian man and his British girlfriend have posted video of themselves being robbed at gunpoint in Guatemala as a warning to others touring the area.
Dan Landsborough and Heidi Burton were travelling through the Guatemalan back country when two masked men jumped out of the bush. One man had a gun and the other had a machete.
Neither Landsborough nor Burton was hurt.
"We have uploaded this video clip to serve as a warning to other travellers about taking this road," Landsborough wrote on YouTube. "Robberies happen in Guatemala and this particular spot is apparently notorious.
"However, we don't want to in any way put people off from visiting San Pedro La Laguna or Guatemala in general."
The federal government says Canadians travelling in Guatemala should exercise a high degree of caution.
