CBC's Janet Stewart nominated for Canadian Screen Award

CBC Manitoba's Janet Stewart has been nominated for a 2015 Canadian Screen Award, which celebrates the best in television, film and digital media.

Stewart, the host of CBC News: Winnipeg, is nominated in the best news anchor (local) category, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television announced on Tuesday.

She is joined by hosts from City Toronto, CTV Toronto and Global British Columbia in the local anchor category.

In addition to anchoring CBC Television's flagship newscast in Manitoba, Stewart has recently started hosting Radio Noon on CBC Radio One 89.3 FM / 990 AM.

The Canadian Screen Awards show will be held on March 1 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto and will air live on CBC starting at 8 p.m. ET. The ceremony will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning comedian Andrea Martin.

CBC has garnered a total of 97 nominations, which includes selections for TV drama as well as news and current affairs programming. CBC News: The National has received nine nominations and the fifth estate has four.

The Canadian Screen Awards replaced the Gemini and Genie Awards in 2013 and were hosted in 2013 and 2014 by Martin Short.
