Chrysler hiring electricians at Windsor Assembly Plant

Chrysler is hiring electricians at its Windsor Assembly Plant.

Unifor Local 444 president Dino Chiodo says the company is looking for about 30 electricians.

He can’t remember the last time Chrysler hired electricians “off the street,” without having been part of the automakers’ apprenticeship program.

He estimates the last such hiring took place in about 2000.

Chrysler Canada spokesperson Lou Ann Gosselin wasn't immediately available for comment.

The job posting is online at Chrysler's website.

The new call for electricians comes about two months after Chrysler Canada announced it was hiring about 60 hourly production workers at its Windsor Assembly Plant.

Chiodo said the last open call for production workers was more than a decade ago.

Chrysler employs about 4,500 hourly employees at its minivan plant in Windsor.
