Cindy Crawford Speaks About ‘Malicious’ Unretouched Photo Of Herself For The First Time

She may be known as one of the most beautiful women on the planet but Cindy Crawford was left “blindsided” by the release of a picture of her that had supposedly not been retouched.

The image from a Marie Claire photoshoot went viral when it was released earlier this year as it showed the model looking less-than-perfect.

With wrinkles and sagging skin around her stomach, the mum-of-two - used to looking perfectly flawless in magazines and billboards - was shown in a non-flattering light.

Women the world over declared that the picture was a positive thing, showing the natural flaws of a beautiful woman in their truest light.

But Cindy said she felt “conflicted” by its release, and claimed that it had been digitally manipulated to exaggerate the tiniest of flaws.

Speaking to the October issue of Elle Canada, the 49-year-old revealed: “I felt blindsided.

“I was very conflicted, to be honest.

“That picture didn’t reflect what I saw when I looked in the mirror - even in the worst dressing-room lighting.”

Because of the overwhelming positive comments about her body, Cindy admitted to not knowing how to react to the release of the picture - which was reportedly stolen.

She said: “It put me in a tough spot: I couldn’t come out against it because I’m rejecting all these people who felt good about it, but I also didn’t embrace it because it wasn’t real - and even if it were real, I wouldn’t have wanted it out there.

“I felt really manipulated and conflicted, so I kept my mouth shut…

“Why would seeing a bad picture of me make other people feel good?

“I know my body, and I know it’s not perfect, but maybe I have a false body image; maybe I think I look better than I do.

“I think that most women are hard on themselves.”

She added that she “doesn’t try to present herself as perfect” and accepted that the pictures women see in magazines can make them feel “inferior”.

Celebrity photographer John Russo said after the release of the picture: “It has been falsely claimed that this photograph represents an un-retouched image of Cindy Crawford.

“This is not true. It is a fraudulent altered version of my photograph.”
