Co-op breads recalled due to possible listeria contamination
Canada's Food Inspection Agency is warning shoppers about a recall on Co-op and Market Town Co-op brand bakery products due to possible listeria contamination.
Affected stores are in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia and products include California Garlic Bread, Garlic/Cheese Bread and Pizza Bread.
Federal Co-operatives is pulling the products from shelves, with consumers being warned that they should not eat any of the products on the recall list.
Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were bought.
According to the CFIA, food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make people sick.
Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
Pregnant women, elderly and those with weakened immune systems are at most risk.
In severe cases, people may die.
