A dad was stopped by police outside the Houses of Parliament after he was spotted waving the ISIS flag with his young daughter.

The unidentified man made the provocative gesture on the weekend before the anniversary of the 7/7 terror attacks in London.

Police stopped and questioned the man - who was carrying the toddler waving the jihadist flag on his shoulders - as he walked past Big Ben.

However, they did not arrest the man as they said he was not breaking the law.

His offensive actions - just over a week after a ISIS claimed responsibility for the Tunisian beach massacre that killed 38 people - were blasted on social media.

Josh Arnold tweeted: “How can someone walk around central London draped in an ISIS flag not be arrested?!?!”

Rhianne Jones added: “Yeah okay wearing an ISIS flag around central London in the run-up to 7/7 may not be illegal but it shouldn’t be tolerated.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “This man was spoken to by officers with consideration given to relevant legislation and a decision was taken by officers at the time that the man was acting within the law. He was not arrested.”

He added: “Wearing, carrying or displaying of an emblem or flag, by itself, is not an offence unless; the way in which, or the circumstance in which, the emblem is worn, carried or displayed is such as to cause reasonable suspicion that the person is a supporter or member of a proscribed organisation.”

“While support of and membership of ISIS is unlawful it is not a criminal offence to advocate the creation of an independent state.”
