Driveway sinkhole nearly swallows BMW
A crane retrieved a BMW from a sinkhole that formed in a Toronto driveway after a water main break.
The sinkhole started forming in a driveway outside a condominium townhouse near Warden Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East.
The BMW began to sink into the ground, starting with its back wheels.
Several hours later, a crane arrived on scene and lifted the vehicle out of danger.
A water main break was the culprit that caused the sinkhole to form. It took the city about two hours to shut off the water supply, a resident told CBC News.
Despite the sinkhole, there is no threat to the structural integrity of the townhouses, said a representative from the property management company.
