Early-morning fire in Grand River, P.E.I., damages vacant home

The provincial fire marshal's office is investigating an early-morning fire at a vacant house in Grand River, P.E.I.

The chief of the Wellington fire department, James Ryan, said someone noticed smoke coming out of the house at around 7 a.m. and called for help.

Firefighters managed to get the fire out quickly, Ryan said, so the damage was contained to the building's interior.

The Tyne Valley and Miscouche fire departments provided assistance.
