Fake Pierre Karl Péladeau posts Québecor shares to Kijiji for $800M

Pierre Karl Péladeau's controversial dual status as a Parti Québécois MNA and Québecor majority shareholder has become the butt of an online practical joke.

On Thursday, an anonymous jokester posted an ad to popular classifieds website Kijiji offering majority shares in Québecor for $800 million.

The fake ad, written in French, says:

"I’m selling my shares in the media company Québecor. Included are television channels including TVA, broadcaster of emotions, gossip magazines, two newspapers full of young guns, a new sports channel (the official broadcaster of half of the Canadiens' games) and perhaps a hockey team. It comes with a Quebec City amphitheatre and the responsibility of speaking to RégisLabeaume often. It also comes with Videotron, the power of infinite cable, Richard Martineau and Gino Chouinard. Reason: I want a country."

The online posting comes after Parti Québécois MNA Jean-François Lisée called on Péladeau to dump his majority interest in Québecor.

Initially, Péladeau refused.

He later changed his tune to say he would put his shares in a blind trust if he became leader of the PQ.
