    Fire guts Bedford restaurant, store

    A Vietnamese restaurant and a Middle Eastern grocery store were damaged in a fire early Tuesday, but no one was hurt.

    The building on the Bedford Highway houses Tu Do and the Persepolis Food Market.

    Firefighters said flames were shooting out of the roof when they arrived before 2 a.m., the CBC's Phonse Jessome reported from the scene.

    Halifax Regional Police said there was no one inside at the time.

    A section of the highway between Meadowbrook Drive and Sullivans Hill was closed while firefighters put out the blaze.

    The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
