Fred Savage Talks 'Wonder Years' Character 25 Years Later

Audiences fell in love with Fred Savage 25 years ago as Kevin Arnold on "The Wonder Years," but what does the actor-turned-director/producer think his character would be doing all these years later?

AccessHollywood.com's Laura Saltman caught up with Fred on the set of his new series, "Best Friends Forever" - which he is producing and directing - where he revealed what profession Kevin might have gone into.

"I feel like Kevin, he was such an observer of things, he must be like some kind of writer or something. That's what I kind of always thought," Fred, 35, said. "He's a writer or an educator."

The former child star believes his character might have even gone into a similar field as his own.

"He was such a keen observer and so heartfelt and so thoughtful about things," he continued. "He's probably like, on a TV staff somewhere. He's writing a pilot."

As for Fred himself, he's very happy to have successfully transitioned into behind the camera work, lending his directing skills to shows like "Modern Family," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," Happy Endings" and "Party Down."

"I'm doing what I've always wanted to be doing, ever since I was a little kid... to be directing, shooting and producing television shows," he explained.

I wondered the same thing for years and did some research. Apparently they are having difficulties liscensing all of the music that they featured on the show (an integral part really). Probably won;t see it in it's original form until 2030 or something once it becomes public domain so I'd say go ahead and find it online then.

These comments are a sign of how truly depressing we are as a society. How could anyone possibly have anything bad to say about a guy who was in a classic TV series, has never been in any type of trouble and has successfully transitioned into a talented director. All child stars should be so fortunate.

It is a bunch of garbage on the TV these days.....the shows back then actually had to have a plot and meaningful conversations and scenarios. Now, if they have not jumped into the sack in the first 10 minutes, people find it boring. TV today is not worth watching.

There was an innocence about the show and the characters that made it appealing to those of us who grew up in the seventies, it is not possible to explain this to immature children with their pants on the ground....

Refreshing show that proved to be successful a program dosent need a bunch of FAKE reality stars, or thongs walking around, or just plain #$%$ like Jersey Shore. Loved it when they touched on the issues of the time. One episode had Kevins neighbour or his sisters friend went to Vietnam, and was killed there, the tone of the episode was so realistic, and you know that occured alot in neighbourhoods all over america at that time. I cant recall the name of the episode, but it was a good one. The actress who played Kevins sister (not seen alot) went onto a good film career I believe, and Kevins brother Wayne went into producing wrestling shows. Very good show that showed a much simpler time, yet also a time that was historic. ( Vietnam, Race, Watergate,Hippies).
