One lane reopened after garbage truck fire on Highway 401 near Cambridge

One lane has opened on Highway 401 near Highway 8 after an overnight truck fire, the Ontario Provincial Police are reporting.

All westbound lanes had been closed since the truck caught fire around 3 a.m. Thursday morning.

The OPP says drivers can get on Highway 401 at Homer Watson Boulevard.

The Cambridge fire department is still on scene trying to put out the remaining elements of the fire.

The OPP says the truck's tires are burned, so the vehicle won't be moving it until they can stabilize the fire.

Eastbound lanes are open but moving slowly due to the visual distraction.

Remaining lanes are still closed for fire trucks and equipment needed to remove the remaining garbage and the damaged truck.
