A 90-year-old man has died in a two-vehicle crash today on Highway 12 near Steinbach, Man.
RCMP say the man was driving a car westbound on Road 40N and was trying to cross Highway 12 when he was hit by a northbound minivan.
The man was found dead at the scene. Police did not release his name but said he was from Morden, Man.
A female passenger in his car had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was airlifted to a Winnipeg hospital with undetermined injuries, according to police.
A 29-year-old man from Blumenort, Man., who was driving the minivan was not hurt.
The crash is under investigation. RCMP say alcohol is not considered to be a factor.
As of 7:15 p.m., the southbound lanes of Highway 12 at the collision site remain closed to traffic, and a detour is currently in effect, say police.
