The rising temperature across many parts of New Brunswick is causing safety officials to warn workers to watch out for heat-related illnesses.
Environment Canada is forecasting the temperature in parts of New Brunswick will reach 27 C on Thursday but it will feel like 35 C with the humidity.
The City of Fredericton issued a heat alert on Thursday, warning the humidex level could peak at 39 C.
The rising temperature caused WorkSafeNB to advise workers to that should be careful to avoid heat related illnesses.
Richard Blais, a director with WorkSafeNB, said heatstroke can set in if people ignore early warnings, such as cramps or nausea.
Blais said a worker needs to act quickly if they hit with heatstroke,
"You can do that by putting damp cloths or even spraying some water gradually onto them to begin the cooling process," Blais said.
"And of course once you reach that point calling for emergency services would also be done."
Blais said the best way to avoid heatstroke is through prevention by drinking plenty of fluids and moderating exposure to the sun.
