Jacob MacNeill named 2015 Easter Seals ambassador

Jacob MacNeill, 13, of Charlottetown, this year's Easter Seals PEI Ambassador, lives by the motto "be yourself, everyone is different."

MacNeill was introduced during the campaign kickoff at the Charlottetown Rotary’s luncheon on Monday.

Jacob, the son of Andrea and Gardiner MacNeill, is a Grade 7 student at Birchwood Intermediate School.

He has Down syndrome and enjoys a wide variety of activities including participating on his school's basketball team and the Minecraft club. He attends the Charlottetown Boys and Girls Club after school.

On Saturdays, he takes hip hop dance and, in his free time, MacNeill likes to swim, dance, play the drums and guitar, and spend time with his sister Ali.

“I am happy to be chosen as the Easter Seals Ambassador, and to travel across the Island to visit schools and attend events," said MacNeill.

He will visit 65 schools across the province during the annual campaign in April and will also take part in many community fund raising events.
