Jean Béliveau funeral: 4 Habs legends to give eulogy

Four Habs legends who skated side by side with Jean Béliveau will bid their former captain a final farewell at his funeral service tomorrow afternoon.Montreal Canadiens players Dickie Moore, Yvan Cournoyer, Serge Savard and Ken Dryden will be sharing their memories of Le Gros Bill.Dickie Moore, a Hockey Hall of Famer and six-time Stanley Cup winner, played 11 seasons with Béliveau.Yvan Cournoyer, a former Habs captain, won 10 Stanley Cups -- as many as Béliveau did when he was captain of the team.Serge Savard won eight Stanley Cups and was the first defenceman to win the Conn Smythe trophy.Ken Dryden, a five-time Vezina trophy recipent, six-­time Stanley Cup champion and Hockey Hall of Famer, will be the last Montreal Canadien to share his memories.Montreal Canadiens co-owner and CEO Geoff Molson will then give a testimonial.Politicians including Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard and Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre will be in attendance. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman will also be present.The funeral, at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral in downtown Montreal, is set to begin at 2 p.m.At 1:00 p.m., a cortege will leave the Bell Centre, where Jean Béliveau’s body lay in state Sunday and Monday.Thousands of Habs fans paid their final respects at the Bell Centre.
