Jennifer Pan sentenced to life without parole for 25 years
Jennifer Pan has been sentenced to life with no possibility of parole for 25 years for the murder of her mother and attempted murder of her father in a phoney home invasion.
Pan, 28, was last month found guilty of both first-degree murder and attempted murder for her role in the 2010 incident, which left her 53-year-old mother, Bieh Ha Pan, dead and her father with a critical head wound.
Her father, 60-year-old Hann Pan, wasn't in the Newmarket, Ont., court today, but said in a written statement that though he survived the attempt on his life, he feels as if he died that day.
The murder conviction brought an automatic life sentence with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
The court heard last month that Pan planned to have her parents killed in a fake home invasion after they forced her to choose between them and her high-school boyfriend turned drug dealer.
Three others — Lenford Crawford, David Mylvaganam and her boyfriend Daniel Wong — were charged with the same offences. All three were also found guilty on all charges.
