John McAfee Is Blogging on the Lam

John McAfee, the man responsible for the anti-virus software on your computer and currently a murder suspect, has started to blog about life on the run. McAfee has been uncharacteristically open with reporters since police in Belize started looking for him in connection with the murder of his neighbor. He's spoken to Wired and Gizmodo and even revealed to them that he changed his appearance, which is an unbelievably stupid thing for a wanted murderer to do. It's like he's never watched a getaway movie in his entire life.

Not satisfied telling reporters all the secrets of his life as a fugitive, McAfee decided to start a blog to deliver the real truth, unfiltered, in his own terms. His first post criticized the press coverage of the murder investigation:

The world press certainly has not helped. Autonomous and self-serving, the press does what it does best – sensationalize. And my character and the recent events of my life have been sensationalized to the max.

Take Jeff Wise and his recent posts to Gizmodo as an example. Jeff has made a life work out of smearing my character. Beginning with Fast Company some two odd years ago and continuing non-stop through the present, he has gone beyond the call of journalistic duty to bring my dark side to the attention of the world. You might think that moral duty or a search for the truth has been driving him. But, sadly, this is not the case.

He goes on to tell a story about how Wise cheated on his wife while covering McAfee for a National Geographic Explorer article years ago. Photos were apparently taken of the indiscretion and made their way to Wise's wife. Wise blames him, and that's why his coverage has been less than favorable, McAfee argues. McAfee's logic, apparently, is to fight "sensational" press coverage with sensational personal stories.

Other than that, he's mostly used the blog to criticize the government of Belize (who he seems to hate despite living there for four years), and brag about the younger women who keep him company. In an interview with CNBC, Wise claimed he was hiding out on his property the whole time and that he wasn't actually on the run, but when police went looked into it he wasn't there. But that did prompt a post on McAfee's blog alleging the police searched his property without a warrant.

Oh, and did we mention how the whole blog is tied to a book coming out about him?
