Justin Bieber booed in Canada

Toronto - Justin Bieber faced a hostile homecoming during his half-time performance at Canada's football Grey Cup, after football fans booed him.

The crowd took to booing the 18-year-old pop star when his face popped up on a screen before his performance at the weekend.

They continued booing when a host spoke his name and didn't stop as he took the stage. This continued throughout his medley of the charttoppers Boyfriend and Beauty and a Beat.

If Bieber was bothered, it didn't show. After finishing the show, Bieber said: "Thank you so much Canada. I love you."

'I would be wearing my overalls too'

Earlier in the week, Bieber was presented with a Diamond Jubilee Medal by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and caused a scene by wearing overalls, unbuttoned on one shoulder, over a white T-shirt, with a backwards baseball cap.

There was so much uproar that Harper even weighed in on Twitter.

Harper tweeted on Sunday:

The Canadian Football League may have been hoping to court Bieber's army of Twitter followers on Sunday, but recent Grey Cup half-time performers have skewed toward the comparatively heavy likes of Nickelback and Lenny Kravitz.

The 27-year-old Carly Rae Jepsen also received a mixed reaction at first during her recent performance, but won the crowd over during an enthusiastic medley of her latest single, This Kiss, and her hit Call Me Maybe.
