How Kasandra Bolduc's body ended up in Lake Ontario still a mystery

Two years ago, the body of a woman originally from Elliot Lake was discovered in Toronto, wrapped in plastic, off the shores of Lake Ontario.

But police still don't know how 22-year-old Kasandra Bolduc ended up there.

The uncertainty has left her family with many questions and little comfort.

"She had a very, very good heart. She was a beautiful girl," said her mother Colleen Dunn.

She said she and her daughter would talk regularly over the phone and on Facebook, but one day the messages stopped.

"You know, you have people telling you, 'Oh maybe she needs her space and that.' No, I knew something was wrong."

Dunn reported Bolduc's disappearance to police in the fall of 2012 and on May 22, 2013 her body was discovered wrapped in a plastic bag in Lake Ontario.

"My daughter does not deserve to end up in a bag in a lake," Dunn said.

Investigation 'stalled'

Toronto Police have described Bolduc's death as "suspicious," but they haven't ruled it a homicide.

Detective Greg Forestall said they've exhausted all leads on the case, but haven't given up.

"As lead investigator, I believe that she was involved in the drug trade and the sex trade and I think that plays a major role," he said.

Toronto Police are once again asking for information from the public.

"To this date, the investigation is still stalled," said Forestall.

"We're awaiting further information to develop further leads and we're again appealing for to the public to come forward with information."

Forestall said anyone with information about Bolduc's disappearance and death is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
