Little Wonders Day Care closes in Truro, families scramble

About 60 families in Truro, N.S., are scrambling to find a place to leave their children this morning after two daycares abruptly closed on Tuesday.

Little Wonders Child Care Centres on Pictou and College roads announced they would no longer be opening their doors, leaving parents in the lurch.

Rose Joudrey of the Big Bird's Nest Daycare says the closures are causing problems.

"There was a note on the door. That's really hard, you feel bad for them," she said.

Joudrey had 15 calls from parents in the last 24 hours, but only had three open spots.

"Some were calling me saying, 'I've called everywhere,'" she said.

The Little Wonders Child Care Centre on College Road was licensed for 44 children between the ages of four months and a year. The Pictou Road location could hold up to 62 children between 18 months and 12 years old.
