All federal politicians in British Columbia have seen the writing on the wall.
As the House of Commons convenes Friday for a crucial vote expected to bring down the Conservative minority government, local MPs are already gearing up for an election.
"I think it's going to happen," said Vancouver South MP Ujjal Dosanjh. "Now Canadians will have a chance to vote and rate us, give the government a report card."
The Liberal says the race for his riding will be particularly hard fought.
In 2008, Dosanjh just barely hung on to keep his seat, beating Conservative candidate Wai Young by 22 votes.
Senior issues, health care and social housing will be some of the key issues in the riding, he said.
"It's going to be a tough race," he admitted. "I'm going to try to get back the votes I lost in the last election."
Conservative MP James Moore is expected to play a pivotal role for the ruling party in B.C., after high-profile incumbents Stockwell Day, Chuck Strahl and John Cummins earlier announced they would not seek re-election.
"I'll be ready," said Moore, the Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam MP. "I think the government has done some good in B.C. and that will help us."
