It seems so appropriate to hold Remembrance Day services at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. Not only is it the moment that the first great war of the modern era ended in 1918 – the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month – but it is mid-November.

A week ago our church decided to host a “crokinole party” at Caressant Care. It was great fun, but there were a number of people, who were not familiar with the game, so substitutes were offered, namely, euchre and cribbage.

Wellington County council recognized long-time workers at the start of the Oct. 29 meeting. Presentations are made to people with 25 and 15 years’ service. Council acknowledges people with 35, 30, 20 and 10.

On Halloween the Novice Vipers made the long drive to Stoney Creek for a game. Arthur lost 4-1. Stoney Creek opened the game with a goal early in the first period. The Vipers lone goal didn’t come until late in the second period.

October 23 brought the Centre Wellington Fusion to town. Having just seen this team the week before, the Peewee’s seemed focussed and prepared to tackle the challenge that this game would bring. However, luck was not on our side and the Fusion ended up taking the win with a final score of 2-1.

It’s better to start slow and build momentum when doing any task but when you’re a young hard working ringette squad like the Wellington North Under 12 Ringers it’s especially important to be patient and just let yourself improve with each passing game.
