Altona town administration are asking the public to report any rat sightings after council was made aware of the spread of vermin through the community.

A weanling pig was picked up by the back legs and swung into the wall, as part of a disturbing barn break-in at Platinum Pork. RCMP say the incident happened sometime overnight on July 11 to 12, when a person or persons entered the farmyard located near Halbstadt and began their senseless vandalism.

Thank goodness for name tags! That was the sentiment of many who attended a homecoming celebration in the Town of Morris from July 11 to 13.

It’s Sept. 22, 1908, and an impressive crowd gathers on the corner of Lucinda and Railroad St. in Morris. It’s an exciting day for this booming prairie town, only 25-years-old and already boasting the construction of its third school.

Two individuals with local roots have received the province’s highest honour. Businessman David Glenn Friesen and artist Peter Sawatzky were among the seven men and five women who were inducted into the Order of Manitoba on July 10.
