Man found dead on parents' driveway was convicted in 2007 dismemberment

A man found dead in his parents' driveway following a shooting in west Edmonton Thursday night was convicted in 2008 of being an accessory to a grisly murder and dismemberment.

CBC News has confirmed that 32-year-old Jason Costouros was the man found by police at 11:30 last night near 212th Street and 88A Avenue , in the city's west end.

On Friday afternoon, EPS spokesperson Scott Pattison confirmed Costouros' identity and said he died from a gunshot wound.

He said a neighbour as well as the victim's father called 911. Neighbours and police both tried to revive Costouros but he died at the scene.

Costouros was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in the death of David Wong, 23.

In February 2007, police were called to an apartment building in downtown Edmonton after a tenant reported blood dripping through the ceiling.

They found four men in the apartment along with Wong's partially dismembered body.

While Costouros and the other men were all convicted of being an accessory to the crime, no one has been convicted for Wong's murder.

"Given the individual's prior conviction with respect to that offence I think there are some starting points for detectives," said Pattison.
