Man found dead in Etobicoke was shot in head, police say

Toronto police say a man whose body was found in Etobicoke this past weekend was shot in the head.

On Monday evening, Det. Scott Purches updated members of the media on the ongoing investigation, the day after a man’s body was found lying on a lawn in the area of Martin Grove Road and The Westway.

Police have identified the victim as Edwin Villan of Toronto.

Homicide investigators are now looking for a male suspect, who is being urged to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.

The suspect is described as a white male, who is between 5'10" and six feet tall and weighs 180-200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light, long-sleeve shirt and a baseball cap.

Police had issued a release late Sunday saying they were seeking the public's help in identifying "the suspect's vehicle," which is described as a late-model, dark-coloured Sierra or Silverado pickup truck.

Police said the vehicle has aftermarket tires and rims.

A portion of a damaged hubcap was found at the scene.

According to the news release, "police believe it came off the suspect's vehicle."
