Man pleads guilty to impaired driving in crash that killed 2

A Prince Albert man pleaded guilty on Friday to two counts of impaired driving causing death.

Jeremiah Jobb was driving at the intersection of 28th Street and 12th Avenue East in July 2013 when his vehicle collided with a vehicle carrying two young women, including one expecting a baby.

Both women — 17-year-old Brandy Lepine and 21-year-old Taylor Litwin — died of their injuries.

Lepine was six months pregnant at the time and doctors were able to deliver the baby before the mother's death.

The baby named Aurora Ledoux survived, but will require a lifetime of care.

Aurora's grandmother, Josephine Ledoux, tells CBC News that the baby is still very much struggling with her health, two years after the car crash forced her premature birth.

Josephine said that Aurora is in and out of the hospital and having trouble keeping down food.

The sentencing of Jobb was adjourned until September 25 as the court requests a Gladue report, which takes into account all reasonable alternatives to incarceration for aboriginal offenders.
