Winnipeg has recorded its fourth homicide of 2012, after an 18-year-old man who was stabbed early Tuesday in the Polo Park area died.
Eli Mandamin Jr. was from the Shoal Lake First Nation, band officials have confirmed to CBC News.
The man was stabbed at the Canad Inns Polo Park on St. Matthews Avenue. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition just after 1:30 a.m. and later pronounced dead.
A second male victim, also stabbed in the upper body, remains in stable condition.
Police have taken a number of people in for questioning.
Later Tuesday morning, police were called to a stabbing at about 4 a.m. near Pritchard Avenue and Aikins Street in the city's North End.
A man was robbed then stabbed in the upper body, police said.
He was rushed to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Police are looking for two suspects in that incident.
