Manitoba family frantic after woman, 32, missing

A family in Gillam, Man. is frantic after the disappearance of 32-year-old Amy Bone.

Mark Matwick says his spouse Amy Bone was headed to Winnipeg to get help with a drinking problem Wednesday.

She took the bus from Gilliam to Thompson and was supposed to be back at the bus depot for 9:30 p.m. to head to Winnipeg.

Matwick says the last text he got from her was at 9:17 p.m., just before she would have boarded.

"She was supposed to be going for treatment and [texted] 'I love you,'

Matwick texted back.

I said, ''We love you, too.' And she said 'Please Mark, try not to judge me. I know it's hard. I love you all. I just need help.' I said 'I know you need help and hope you get it for your health and the kids' sake,'" he said.

The couple has three children, 3, 5 and 8 years old.

But Matwick says police have told him Bone never got on the bus

"Her and possibly somebody else went to the bus depot at that time and they were intoxicated. The bus driver wouldn't let them on," he said. "Her phone's been dead since yesterday around 11 oclock."

Matwick says texts he's sent since Wednesday night have not been read.

RCMP say they are investigating but have not yet issued a missing person's report.

Bone is five feet four inches, 135 pounds.

Matwick says Bone just came back after a five-week treatment program but relapsed almost as soon as she got home.

Still, he says, it's unlike Bone not to stay in touch.

"Doesn't make sense. Like she usually keeps in contact. She's good that way, but...I don't know. I don't get it."

He hasn't told the children yet. One of them is crying in the background as he describes how he's handling it.

"I'm stressed out," he said, the tension rising in his voice. "Everything that's been going on the last couple of months. I'm honestly sick to my stomach. It's turning."
