Marine Atlantic says bad weather means rough start to 2015
It's been a rough start to the new year for Marine Atlantic, with rough winter weather hindering ferry crossings.
Since Jan. 1, 12 ferry crossings between Port aux Basques and North Sydney have been cancelled due to severe weather conditions.
Marine Atlantic's Darryl Mercer said ferries were able to sail Thursday night, clearing up a backlog of goods headed for the province.
Mercer said the service remains heavily dependent on weather.
However, Mercer added traffic volumes at this time of year are relatively low, allowing more room for commercial vehicles to board for sailings.
