Medicine Hat Tigers down Calgary Hitmen 5-2 in game delayed by weather

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - The Medicine Hat Tigers beat the visiting Calgary Hitmen 5-2 on Sunday in a Western Hockey League game delayed by poor road conditions.

With road closures and blowing snow holding the Hitmen bus up, Calgary didn't arrive at The Arena until 5:40 p.m., forcing the 6 p.m. start to be held off until 6:40 p.m.

Derek Ryckman, Curtis Valk, Hunter Shinkaruk, Zach Hodder and Tyler Lewington all scored for the Tigers (34-30-3), who got 39 saves from goalie Marek Langhamer.

Brady Brassart and Alex Roach scored for Calgary (40-20-5), but the Hitmen gave up seven power-play opportunities in a row at one point. Mack Shields made 30 saves.
