Missing brothers found dead in Mississauga pond, father confirms
Two brothers from Oakville have been found dead in a Mississauga pond, their father confirmed to CBC Toronto Wednesday.
Hamza Khan, 22, and Shahruka Khan, 20, had been missing since last Friday.
On Tuesday evening, their silver BMW was found submerged in a pond near Ninth Line and Thomas Street in Mississauga. Police divers also discovered two bodies in the water.
While investigators have yet to identify the bodies, father Mohammed Khan has confirmed to CBC Toronto that his sons were found in the pond along with their car.
On Facebook, Malik Sikander, who identifies himself as an older brother of the deceased men, writes that he "lost everything today."
"My brothers died a very painful death," Sikander continues. "After the car crash their car went into the pond. Airbags deployed, yet somehow they managed to escape through the sunroof. Shocked by the car crash and cold water they must have been confused and were swimming in the wrong direction. They were not good swimmers."
Peel Regional Police have not said how the vehicle ended up in the pond or if it was preceded by a crash. Their investigation is ongoing.
"They must have cried and shouted their lungs out for help and must have been calling my name to come and help them," Sikander writes on Facebook.
Hamza and Shahruka are two of seven children in the Khan family. Shahruka went to White Oaks Secondary School. Hamza was studying architecture at Sheridan College.
The brothers went missing last Friday, just hours after a family lunch at their Oakville home, according to Mohammed Khan. His sons were last seen at a plaza in the Tenth Line and Thomas Street area around 9:15 p.m Friday where they had met up with friends after working out.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed or has video footage of the vehicle in the area of Thomas Street between Ninth and Tenth Line in Mississauga last Friday.
