Missing N.W.T. hunters found safe at cabin

Two hunters missing from Fort McPherson, N.W.T., have been found in good condition in a cabin on the Yukon side of the border.

Old Crow RCMP say the men had been part of a larger group of hunters who had travelled from Fort McPherson to a cabin at Curtain Mountain, also known as Mount Millen, in Yukon. The cabin is about 150 kilometres east of Old Crow and 65 kilometres from Fort McPherson.

Police say the two men, aged 55 and 56, left the cabin Sunday morning, planning to make the 150 kilometre journey to Old Crow. Police were advised around 10 a.m. Monday morning that they had failed to arrive in Old Crow.

Snowmobilers from both communities and a helicopter from Dawson City searched for the men.

They were found at 5 p.m. Monday back at the cabin. They had encountered mechanical problems with their machines and returned to await help.
