Montreal airport's SecurXpress service speeds up security

If you’re sick of waiting in endless security lines at Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport, relief may be in sight.

The airport recently launched a new online service that allows passengers to be assigned a time to pass through screening rather than queuing up blindly.

The system, called SecurXpress, is free and can be set up before arriving at the airport.

It is available to passengers travelling on domestic and international flights, except those headed to the U.S.

People enter their cellphone number and flight information in a form on the airport’s website and are texted a time to show up at the security screening point.

Travellers have to arrive at the time they are assigned.

The new service comes as the Montreal-Trudeau airport hits a traffic milestone. This morning, the airport logged its 14-millionth passenger of 2013, a first in the airport’s 72-year history.
