Contractors at The Canadian Museum of Nature will carefully hoist a
large sperm whale skull to the fourth floor exhibit
space Monday afternoon to get ready for the Whales Tohora exhibit next
month.
The new exhibit originates from the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongawera and brings visitors closer to marine mammals through interactive science and cultural storytelling. The skull has sacred cultural value for the Maori, the aboriginal people of New Zealand.
The exhibit will run from March 2 to Sept. 3. The museum will be closed to the public Monday while workers transport the skull and other large items into building at around 1:30 p.m.
