Nearly $10K raised for Mimi Luong, who fell to her death from condo

As police continue to investigate her suspicious death, an online fundraiser has been set up for the woman who died after falling from a Toronto condo building last week.

Mimi Luong, 30, died last Thursday after plunging from the sixth floor of her Downsview area condo building and suffering serious injuries.

Police are investigating the events surrounding her death, but have not laid any charges at this time.

After the fall, a ground-level security camera captured a man picking her up and bringing her back inside. Paramedics were called to her condo unit, but the woman later died.

Outside the building, there's now small memorial of flowers.

"I am heartbroken that you left us so soon," said one card, signed by co-worker Deborah Jules.

Friends have set up a GoFundMe campaign, which has nearly reached its $10,000 target as of Tuesday morning. The online fundraiser will help Luong's family with funeral costs and support the woman's 13-year-old son in the future.

"No child should go through this," said Kim Lieu, the campaign's coordinator.

Luong will be mourned at a funeral on Saturday in Thornhill.

Detectives working on the case, meanwhile, are asking for any potential witnesses to come forward.
