A child reads a book 'My Delhi' at Gyan Shakti Vidyalaya, an open air school on the occasion of 'World Literacy Day' on the outskirts of New Delhi September 8, 2009. With the education sector deemed 'not for profit', and limits on private investment in primary and secondary education, there is a thriving cottage industry of coaching centres and tutors. A Right to Education Bill, passed by the parliament last month, provides children aged 6-14 years the right to free and compulsory education in a neighbourhood school.
