With the education sector deemed 'not for profit', and limits on private investment in primary and secondary education, there is a thriving cottage industry of coaching centres and tutors. A Right to Education Bill, passed by the parliament last month, provides children aged 6-14 years the right to free and compulsory education in a neighbourhood school.
