Residents run to safety as an unmanned hot air balloon explodes during a competition in Taunggyi, the capital of the southern Shan State of Myanmar late November 1, 2009. The number of casualties were unknown. Eyewitnesses said some people sustained light injuries. During the annual Tazaungdaing Festival, traditionally hand-made hot air balloons are released into the air. The competition judges balloons based on beauty, altitude achieved and the amount of time they can spend in the air.
