Firefighters help residents to evacuate from the village of Scaletta Zanclea, near the Sicilian town of Messina, October 2, 2009. At least 13 people were killed and 40 injured in rainstorms in Sicily early on Friday which washed away roads and destroyed homes around Messina, where rescue workers dug through the mud to find survivors.
