Nobel Prize-winning scientist Willard Boyle (R) receives a hug from his son David in Halifax, Nova Scotia, October 6, 2009. Boyle shared one half of the prize with George Smith for their work in digital sensor technology. The second half of the prize was won by Charles Kao for his work in fibre-optics.
