Dozens of Ontario Place fans rallied Saturday in support of keeping the waterfront park alive.
The provincial government says it wants to shut down parts of Ontario Place to save money.
But MPP Rosario Marchese told the crowd gathered at the Lake Shore Boulevard gates that such a drastic step isn't necessary.
Ontario Place should be a public space for families, said Marchese, a New Democrat who represents Trinity Spadina.
"And with some investment and some good ideas, this will continue to improve as a place for all Ontarians," he said to cheers. "Let's keep this going."
Liberal Finance Minister Dwight Duncan said earlier month that the province could save $20 million a year by closing money-losing attractions at Ontario Place, which opened more than 40 years ago.
The Cinesphere, water park and amusement rides are all on the chopping block, while the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, the Atlantis Pavilion, the marina and the parking lot would remain open.
